  • Smelting at the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant of TNC Kazchrome JSC reached a new milestone ahead of the 75th anniversary of establishment of the enterprise.
  • The Aksu Ferroalloys Plant of TNC Kazchrome JSC celebrated the 50th anniversary of its establishment.
  • A unique railcar defroster was launched at the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant.
  • New open-pit mines were put into operation in the Krasnooktyabrsk Bauxite Mining Department of Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC.

February

  • Kazakhstan Aluminium Smelter shipped the first batch of liquid aluminium to GiessenHaus LLP.
  • Employees of all of ERG’s enterprises in Kazakhstan took part in the ERG Barysy-2018 Kazakh wrestling tournament held in the Bayantau Sports Palace.

May

  • TNC Kazchrome JSC reported that in 2017, it had achieved record chrome ore and ferroalloy output.

June

  • SSGPO’s Smart Mine project won the Golden Hephaestus National Industry Competition.
  • Coal mining at the new Vostochny-2 deposit reached the 1Mt milestone ahead of the Day of Ekibastuz City.
  • ERG became the main partner of the 25th Anniversary World Mining Congress in Astana.
  • ERG and the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs signed a memorandum on the development and support of women's entrepreneurship.

  • S&P upgraded ERG’s credit rating to ‘B’ following stronger results; outlook positive.
  • A five-storeyed apartment building was commissioned in Aksu as part ERG’s Housing Programme to mark the 20th anniversary of the renaming of Astana and the 50th anniversary of establishment of the Aksu Power Plant.
  • As part of the Astana Finance Days, ERG and Astana International Financial Centre Authority JSC signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
  • Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works acknowledged ERG as the best iron ore supplier.
  • Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant JSC of TNC Kazchrome JSC, the pioneer of Kazakhstan’s ferrous metals industry, celebrated the 75th anniversary of its establishment.

August

  • Moody's upgraded ERG's credit rating to ‘B2’ following stronger results; outlook positive.
  • Metalkol SA (‘Metalkol’), an enterprise of Eurasian Resources Group in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), signed an agreement with companies in Central Africa to secure electricity supply for up to ten years.
  • The 2nd ERG Spartakiad (Sports Games) took place in the town of Rudny.
  • The Peace Wall memorial funded by Eurasian Group was unveiled in Astana.

September

  • 10 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) laboratories were opened in Kazakhstani schools with ERG’s support.
  • ERG’s Art Festival was held in Almaty as part of the Country of Craftsmen competition organized by ERG.
  • A new unit with a design capacity of 10 million cubic meters of overburden per year was put into operation at the Vostochny open-pit coal mine of EEC JSC.
  • As part of the First Anaga Tagzym National Women's Meeting held in Aktobe, TNC Kazchrome JSC won the Best Enterprise for Working Mothers competition.
  • For the first time the ERG Run Fest was held simultaneously in Rudny, Khromtau and Aksu.

  • DBK provided a $360M credit facility to EEC JSC for a period of 8 years.

  • Alumina production at Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC reached the 60Mt milestone.

October

  • ERG presented its vision for responsible cobalt supply at two major sustainability conferences in New York.
  • The project to establish an ERP system for the enterprises of ERG Group based on the SAP ERP Platform won the second prize in the Leader of Digital Transformation category in the SAP Value Award 2018 competition in Moscow.
  • Honeywell and ERG signed Memorandum of Understanding to develop digital technologies to enhance productivity of Global Operations.
  • The ERG team won three second prizes at the Open Eurasian WorldSkills Championship in Yekaterinburg (Russia) held for the first time as part of the National WorldSkills Hi-Tech Championship.

November

  • The 3rd annual ERG Innovators’ Forum was held in Astana. Its focus was ‘Lean Production in the Digital Age’.
  • The Maidan Zholy search team consisting of employees from enterprises of ERG’s aluminium division celebrated the 10th anniversary of its formation.
  • ERG secured electricity supply for its copper mining operation at Frontier Mine in the DRC.
  • The first stage of centralization of ERG’s maintenance and mechanical engineering assets in Kazakhstan was launched.

December

  • ERG presented the Group’s efforts to create a responsible and sustainable supply chain of key materials for the global battery market at a major commodities summit in Tokyo.
  • SSGPO JSC won in the Zhyldyk Uzdіk Uiymy (Best Enterprise of the Year) category of the Zhomart Zhurek national project.
  • The Aksu Power Plant of EEC JSC, a leader of Kazakhstan's energy industry, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its establishment.
  • Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC launched an ambient air monitoring system.
  • The collective agreement of TNC Kazchrome JSC was acknowledged to be the best in the Paryz national corporate social responsibility contest. The award was presented by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev.
  • ERG supported the Children out of Mining programme carried out by Pact, a global non-profit organization, to help children transition out of artisanal and small-scale mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
