The UK’s SFO ends case regarding Mr Benedikt Sobotka's non-appearance for questioning as a witness

Both Mr Sobotka and the Westminster Magistrates’ Court have received the Notice of Discontinuance from the Serious Fraud Office

Eurasian Resources Group (“ERG” or “the Group”) today announces that the Serious Fraud Office (“SFO”) has decided to discontinue its case regarding Mr Benedikt Sobotka, Chief Executive Officer of ERG, following a review of the matter.

The discontinued case related to Mr Sobotka’s non-appearance for questioning as a witness in relation to the SFO’s investigation into Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation (“ENRC”). Mr Sobotka was never an employee of ENRC nor was he ever a suspect in the investigation.

Mr Sobotka’s lawyer and Partner at Morrison Foerster (UK) LLP, Mr Kevin Roberts, said: “We have always maintained Mr Sobotka had no case to answer and we are pleased the SFO has discontinued these proceedings.”
